Products for repair and damaged hair
Damage rarely has one cause. Bleach, colour, heat and daily wear each leave hair in a different state, and the product that helps most depends on which of those you're dealing with.
Start with the type of damage
Hair that snaps when you brush it needs something different from hair that simply feels dry. Breakage points towards bond or protein treatments; dryness points towards masks, conditioners and oils.
If your hair is bleached or chemically treated, treatments designed for that state are usually a better fit than general conditioners, because they focus on strength as well as moisture.
How often you treat matters
Intensive treatments are designed to be used occasionally. Leave-ins and conditioners are designed for regular use. Choosing the wrong frequency is a common reason a good product disappoints.
What products can and can't do
Cosmetic products help improve the appearance and feel of damaged hair. They don't permanently rebuild a split end — a cut does that. Choosing realistically keeps expectations right and results better.
